For years, we've said, "We really should do the Solano Stroll..." Well, this year, Three Stone Hearth employee Kathe Boyd, who grew up near Solano Avenue in north Berkeley, finally got us to come out of our shell and join the action. Taking place this Sunday, September 10, from 10am-5pm, the Stroll stretches the length of Solano Avenue -- close to two miles -- and attracts nearly a quarter million visitors each year.
Among the features of the Stroll are a fabulous parade that starts near the top of the street at 10am, 50 entertainers and over 500 booths, including 50 food vendors, 150 juried hand-crafters, 150 government and non-profit agencies, mechanical rides and much more. Free shuttles run from North Berkeley BART to Marin Avenue, one block south and parallel to Solano, from 10am-7pm There’s also free valet parking for bikes at two locations on Solano (at 1800 Solano and 1245 Solano).
The Three Stone Hearth booth will be set up just a few blocks from the top of Solano, near Ensenada Street. We'll be sampling and selling housemade products, hosting an original "nerdy nutrition game" devised by our Mission Fairy, Jessica Prentice and more. Come stroll our way and celebrate our inimitable community of the East Bay!
