Going "Plastic Free" with Oakland Author and Activist Beth Terry
Last month I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon here with Beth Terry, author of Plastic Free and local crusader for plastic-free living, when she came to Three Stone Hearth. Her story inspired me to take a deeper look at my own personal relationship to plastic, and to question more thoroughly how many products I let into my home that are made of plastic or packed in plastic.
Beth was thrilled to learn about Three Stone Hearth. She had no idea that a model offering so many wonderful, nourishing, ready-made products in returnable glass jars was so close to her home in Oakland! She, in turn, introduced us to a number of great alternatives to plastic packaged products, including the Brush with Bamboo toothbrush and the silk Dental Lace dental floss, which we are now offering to customers. I've been using both, and am loving them.
As for what I put on my brush, a number of years ago I was converted to Rupam's toothsoap after hearing one of her wonderful presentations on holistic dental care. At Three Stone Hearth, we are continually digging deeper, learning more, connecting the dots, and becoming more conscious about our decisions, both individually and collectively. We are thrilled that you are on this journey with us!
If you're interested in joining a reading group working with Beth's Plastic Free, at Berkeley's Ecology Center, the first chapter will be discussed September 20. Click here for details.
