Foraging and DIY Foods Lecture Series

Foraged FoodsFeaturing foragers, gardeners and ancient living educators, this 5-class lecture series explores a return to a more instinctive relationship with food by participating in its harvesting, cultivating and processing. Specific dates and times are listed below. Classes are $18 each, or all 5 for $80, a savings of $10.

Kitchen Herbalism, Denise Goitia (This coming Monday)

Eat and drink your medicine! TSH Staff member and herbalist, Denise Goitia  will explore the medicinal properties of familiar culinary herbs such as oregano, cayenne and garlic. Discover all the healing found in each of our kitchen pantries and learn some simple techniques for making your own herbal extracts. In this class you will get to taste and experiment with making an herbal infusion that you can share with friends and family.

Foraging the Future: The re-emergence of the human being in the ecosystem,“Feral” Kevin Feinstein (This coming Thursday)

Join author and teacher Kevin Feinstein for a presentation on modern foraging: the do’s, don’ts, how’s and why’s.  He’ll discuss how foraging fits into the modern world,  the local ecosystem and economy, as well as the global environmental picture.  Talk will include a slides and photos.
