Step back in time and learn how to make traditional and nourishing soaps from local, grassfed beef tallow, extra virgin olive oil, and organic essential oils. Indulge in the "slow body care" movement.
In this class, you will be shown how to make high-quality cold process soaps using beef tallow, sodium hydroxide, local extra virgin olive oil, herbs, and organic essential oils.
Each student will take home three different soaps that they custom decorate with herbs or flowers. The soaps are: Gardener; Vetiver; and Desert Rose. These are traditional soaps that leave the skin feeling clean, soft and exceptionally nourished.
SAFETY NOTE: Alkali solutions are caustic. Rubber gloves must be worn whenever handling alkali crystals and solution. Safety glasses must be worn while mixing alkali to protect the eyes from any splashing, and care should be taken not to breathe any fumes that rise up from cooking soap products. Materials will be provided.
Megan Bre Camp is the founder of Summer Sequoia Tallow, an artisanal line of organic tallow balms, soaps and candles handcrafted in Oakland, California. Megan, a former cook and kitchen manager at Three Stone Hearth, is passionate about sustainable living, eating seasonally, and using local organic ingredients and traditional techniques in all facets of her work.

If you pre-register for this class and are unable to attend, please send an email to education@threestonehearth.com letting us know. You may cancel and request a full refund up until 24 hours before the class. We will issue a credit to your account for the full class price. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we will not issue a credit to your account, however you may apply the class fee towards a future class to be used within 6 months. After 6 months, that credit will be void. If you can not attend, you are also welcome to send someone else in your place. However, please let us know that you will be doing this. If you contact us after the class, no refunds or credits will be issued. When Three Stone Hearth, must cancel a class, you will receive a full refund for any fees paid towards the class.
